05 Nov 2001 :: Sorry to start with the weather again, but the point is that there is definitely something wierd happening. Exactly a week ago, on the last week-end I was cold. And this week has been pretty warm. Well, "warm" is not the word to describe it, because during several days it was +25C... [ more.. ]

06 Sep 2002 :: The last summer was marked with a serious desolation of the Internet. A whole bunch of sites with self-educational aims visited from time to time by an average Russian-speaking surfer like me stood still without updates... [ more.. ]

16 Jul 2002 :: As a proof of the effectivity of the digital photography, the photos section of the site was enriched with several new shots. There are some among them from a party here in Iasi, from the recent trip to Chisinau on 29-30th June, and some scanned photos from Bicaz... [ more.. ]

[ 26th Mar 2002 ] motor 3.2.2 | 1 comments | leave a comment

Nice March weather with sleet, cold and rain encouraged me to release a new version of motor, a console IDE for UNIX. Changes I planned for this release were done quite a long ago, but it couldn't be done earlier because of "bairams" I was regulary invited to every evening during the last week. "Bairam" in another Romanian word for party, with obvious Turkish origin. But this Saturday at last was a day without any plans. Just a free day. Finally.

Several days ago I made another discovery. Obviously, in the land of wine makers wine shouldn't cost a lot. I knew that before and a price of 1.5-2$ for a bottle was ok for me. But it appeared to be not the final limit when we entered into a supermarket here with a colleague. He was going to go home and wanted to pick something brand Romanian to bring as a gift. So we stopped at shelves with wines. It looked beatiful. A lot of sorts, brands, years of distillation, etc.. There was quite a choice. But suddenly my attention was attracted by one liter bottles, covered with metal corks like beer. Half-dry wine, price - 5.400 lei. About 0.15$ converted into American roubles. Probably something similar to our "Gold autumn" made of tomatoes remained from the last year. In several days we were in the same shop with several Romanian and French friends, and they didn't believe me. So we went inside to check the price. Unfortunatelly, we didn't make a bet that there is a wine that can cost less than mineral water.
